Status update: waiting on review from CRAN .

This took some time and has been discussed among the CRAN team.
The size is simply too much for CRAN.
Our idea is to use a secure website from which a package downloads a
fixed and permamnet version of the libraries (incl version number),
where nobody should be able to change te libraries.
Such a website can be. Our preference would be

Ok, I understand.  We can begin to think about how to use Zenodo for JAR downloading. I think implementation is fine  - the main issue there would be identifying where/how to allow JAR downloads as CRAN has traditionally disallowed downloading and modifying a Users environment  - e.g .the JARs will need to be downloaded and added to the Classpath.  I am in the process of handing over maintenance to another so we can work on that problem together.

@egonw I am going to squash merge this PR so people can use github to install the 3.11 JARs. But as per the comment above, a longer term solution for the R ecosystem must involve downloading the JARs fomr a secure static version - e.g. zenodo,

We have https://zenodo.org/records/15105090 but that's an archive of the source code, not the jar. And we have the jar part of the release, but that's not as stable as Zenodo, at https://github.com/cdk/cdk/releases/tag/cdk-2.11

I wonder if https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/openscience/cdk/cdk-bundle/2.11/ will do for CRAN...
