I want to hold on to this.
looks like travis is install python3 and not python2.7.
I have not ported the code to 3, since I am doing some major changes I still holding on to python2.7 and once this is stable then I will move to python3.

Python3 is just of syntax checking. And python2 is also there. python by default is python2.7 on travis (which is ubuntu14.04). Checking syntax with python3 is just additional step. But its up to you. If you are porting to python3, have a look at the couple of year old PR #17 . It might have some useful pointers.
