How to delete stale messages? #55

Hi, sorry to create and issue on this, I know it's not a support forum =)
How does one clear out stale messages that might be in the queue after a re-start? I though maybe using the "Running message timeout" feature as mentioned in the readme (i.e. stale messages would expire) but I don't see that feature in the code itself? Maybe i'm missing something.
Thanks for library, very useful and I love it!!
