Bookmarks XML incorrectly writes file path

Using this in macOS, I keep having issues with bookmarks. This is what I observe.

The Application wants to look for the "tmres.dtd" at "resources/tmres.dtd". HOWEVER, when the application saves the resources XML with bookmarks and palettes, it incorrectly writes the path for the location of "tmres.dtd" in the XML as "resources\tmres.dtd".

If I change the path back to "resources/tmres.dtd" it works just fine, until the next time I save bookmarks, and the application writes the path as "resources\tmres.dtd" again.

I am no developer, but sifting through the code, I noticed this in the file: "src/main/java/tm/TMFileResources.java"

Line 284 reads:
sb.append("<!DOCTYPE tmres SYSTEM \"resources\\tmres.dtd\">\n");

Is the double "\" the problem? Should that not read:

sb.append("<!DOCTYPE tmres SYSTEM \"resources\tmres.dtd\">\n");

Or am I perhaps misunderstanding the syntax.

The double-backslash is not the problem: When you define a String enclosed by double-quotes, then double-quotes cannot be part of that String unless you (for example) "escape" the problematic character \": And there are other, alternative escape strategies, like %20 for spaces in URLs. And & for & in XML & HTML (for example).

Backslashes (\) are used on Windows while Forward-slashes (/) are used on Mac & Linux:
That is probably causing your issue.

RIGHT. Makes sense, just escaping the character.

Thanks for letting me know about Windows. I am not very familiar with it.

How do I modify it so that it stops writing a broken path and corrupting bookmarks files?
