Numerous warnings of deprecated libraries, failure at npm install

Our student group project is looking for a user management packagage and this one looked very promising. Howeever, on attempt at npm install, I first get the following warn notices:

Thereafter, because of deprecated node-pre-gyp@0.15.0 (@mapbox/node-pre-gyp), the installation fails.

Hi, @tlcoles Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I am working to fix the deprecation warnings. I have tried to reproduce the failing installation, and have been unable.
What version of Node are you using? I installed it with Node 14 (14.15.15) and it installed successfully. Can you try that version and let me know if it works for you?

Same issue here, Macbook Air M1
node v16.14.0
( not even LTS at this point ) is this actively maintained? Should we look for another package?
