osmupdate removes the lon and lat from the <delete> sections

I discovered when running, e.g., "osmupdate -v 2020-04-01T21:57:00Z test.osc.gz " in the output osc file it will remove all lon and lat entities with in the element. The expected behavior is to maintain the data as it assembled the osc files from planet changeset files. please help. Thank you .
