cannot load s3dx files

Shape3d now saves in .s3dx format, which Boardcad is unable to open. In Shape3d lite I tried saving .s3dx files as .s3d files, but Boarded is still unable to open them. I usually get the error

Failed to read Shape3d .s3d xml file. Attribute name "point" associated with an element type "Ref." must be followed by the ' = ' character.

This happened with several files, downloaded from the Shape3d Warehouse.

I havent looked at this for a few years. I fixed an issue with s3d files from v8 here:

needed to save s3dx files as v8 s3d before opening

I noticed this guy has added s3dx functionality which might be even better:

I broke mine by trying to update to JAVA 11 and kind of lost interest.

Thanks for sharing your issues, that brought me the idea of trying to fix the file saved as s3d under shape3D. And it worked!

I searched for "Ref. point" and deleted all opening and closing tags in the xml. Hope this works for you, too! Btw., they're all inside 'Box' Tags. Maybe just an issue with the fin box object..

Hey, I was trying to use your method, editing the file in notepad++ and deleting every <Ref.point> and </Ref.point> in the document, but the file doesn't open on the latest BoardCAD.
Has anyone found a solution to open .s3dx files?

Did you delete everthing between the tags too? <Ref.point> ... </Ref.point>?

I did now, and the result is the same.
The file opens, but it's not displaying anything.

Your .s3d is still version 9, save as v8 and you should be ok (works for me) - refer line 4 in the file: 8
