Student version?

Hi Jacob,

Does SNOPT trial version works? I only have a student trail license. It comes with '.dll','lib' files.

And it seems that you once released a student version for EMTG v8, which allow user to use pre-compiled snopt.dll library. Do you have plans to release a student version for EMTG v9? I've spent two days to install all the third-party packages, carefully followed your build_system pdf. But the EMTG didn't work on my machine. I checked the log, I found error related to gsl(I used v2.5.0) and snopt. I also tried to install the student version you provide on year 2014. But it is based on 32 bit system and the SNOPT doesn't provide a 32bit version anymore.

Good morning, I cannot release a pre-compiled binary of EMTGv9 like I did EMTGv8. There are too many third party dependencies that NASA does not have the right to distribute. But any recent SNOPT (7.5 or newer) will work including student versions. Be aware that the pre-compiled Windows SNOPT is built in Intel Visual Fortran, and so you will need that tool to link it into EMTG. That is why I build SNOPT from source using mingw64. This is not an issue on Linux. A collaborator is working on a more detailed install document. In the mean-time, try GSL 2.4. Also check to make sure that you have matched 64 bit release mode compiles for everything. I used another machine to re-install all the packages/libraries, just in case that I messed up some library installation yesterday. I followed your instructions - I used GSL 2.4.0 and it works.

I installed student version of Parallel Studio XE that contains intel Visual Fortran, but still I got errors about SNOPT library when building EMTG in Visual Studio:

Actually build\Release directory doesn't exist so I tried to create these folders and put files in it, but it didn't work. VS produce new errors:

snopt_interface.lib is a separate library that has to be downloaded from the SNOPT website at: https://ccom.ucsd.edu/~optimizers/downloads/ You’ll want to make sure that you have recent versions of each. SNOPT 7.5 or later (prefer 7.6 or 7.7) and whatever the right version of the interface library is to go with it. Just using the latest of both is the safest way to go. Unfortunately I don’t know. You can also find the source code for the SNOPT interfaces on github, but I think you should contact the SNOPT developers for help getting the interface library.
